It’s April 6th, I’m at the Roosevelt Muhammad Community Action Day! I had an amazing first week of self-love. On Monday, I took myself on a date at Mulan’s and got some basil shrimp and scallop stir fry! Yum! Then I got a Bourbon drink. On Tuesday, I tried Desta for the first time, yum! I got the salmon with gomen and rice. Both days, I went to my friend Thai’s house, and we just chilled; my friend Asahel was there Monday and Tuesday, and we just decompressed. I think we both needed that moment to sort stuff out. I absolutely needed that! Oh, and I went straight home first on Tuesday and Wednesday.
I also arranged for a Doggy Daycare pickup with Lifeline Animal Shelter! I cleansed and organized my spaces, ridding myself of stagnant and negative energy. On Wednesday, I walked into my neighborhood and saw a beautiful body of water. Then I walked into my neighborhood and saw a beautiful body of water! Then I got some mixed veggie and jerk plantain patties to start my day.
I am taking it slow and easy more often when I can. I consistently lived in a state of getting to the next thing, always busy never truly rested. My mentor and Spelman sister Raiyon told me a tidbit I always strive to remember, "If you are always in a constant state of I need to do better, it does nothing but breed exhaustion." After starting my LLC, I was excited to accomplish my next goal for my company, but I did not take time to celebrate and rest during that triumph. I am grateful to my sisters, who encouraged me to prioritize myself first!
